So, here’s a little bit about me and the artwork I create.
Everything I create is animal based. I love all animals, and whether they are beloved pets, farm animals or wildlife, I enjoy drawing them all!
Living in Cornwall is perfect for the avid animal lover that I am. There are animals everywhere. We have sheep, ponies and cows roaming freely across the moor, as well as an abundance of cats and dogs and the odd alpaca thrown in for good measure. There are also plenty of peacocks and chickens too, though they’re not always easy to find!
If I am not drawing or painting, I am usually working with animals. Fortunately I am able to spend part of each week in the company of cats and alpacas, which is extremely rewarding, fun and always entertaining!
My speciality is to create realistic black and white drawings, some with colour added. I always try to bring out the true character of each animal which often ends up with something very colourful and a little quirky.
About the Portraits
Animal portraits that I create are usually, but not always, head shots. It really depends upon the animal, the photograph and the client.
There are a selection of originals, prints, cards and gifts for sale in The Shop for you to choose from. I also offer commissioned pieces. Please see Commissions for more information about the booking process.
Don’t forget to get in touch if you need any more information or advice.
About the Art Materials
Black & White Artwork
My first choice for media when creating realistic pieces are fineliner pens and ink. When I create detailed, intricate pieces, fineliners are perfect for this.
You will see in The Gallery the detailed and realistic results that can be achieved with fineliner pens.
I prefer brands such as Derwent, Staedtler, Unipin and Faber Castell because the quality is excellent.
My colour designs usually start off being black ink drawings as well. I then add colour with artist quality watercolour paints and/or inks.
